Xiaomi Redmi K30 to Feature Qualcomm 5G Chipset Up until now, it was rumoured that the Redmi K30 would come with a MediaTek 5G chipset, however, they just remain as rumours. The Xiaomi Redmi K30 will feature Qualcomm’s newly launched Snapdragon 765 Mobile Platform which also has 5G support. That said, Xiaomi did not reveal anything about the Redmi K30 Pro, but rumours point out an early 2020 launch for the phone. Qualcomm rival and rising chipmaker MediaTek recently unveiled Dimensity 1000 series of chipsets with 5G support. Everyone expected the Redmi K30 would feature one of MediaTek Dimensity 1000 series chipset which is not the case. Alongside the Redmi K30, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G will also feature the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 Mobile Platform and the phone could be launched by the end of 2019 in China. Both phones are expected to cost less than 2500 Yuan in China. Qualcomm did not reveal the complete details of Snapdragon 765 SoC. For the unaware, the Snapdragon 730 was the third-fastest chipset in the lineup of Qualcomm right now, but the Snapdragon 765 takes that slot now. It will be interesting to see whether the Snapdragon 765 offers better performance than the Snapdragon 845 SoC, which is now a two-year-old SoC. Answers for this question will be available when Qualcomm releases full details regarding the Snapdragon 765. Xiaomi Redmi K30: What We Know So Far With the Snapdragon 765 SoC on board, the Redmi K30 is already shaping up to be a worthy successor to the Redmi K20 which arrived with Snapdragon 730. The Redmi K30 already confirmed to feature dual punch-hole display, IPS LCD panel, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, quad-camera setup with industry’s high-resolution sensor and 27W fast charging. Also, the IPS LCD panel on the Redmi K30 is said to have 120Hz refresh rate and the phone will allow users to switch between 120Hz and 60Hz refresh rates. The Redmi K30 will most likely pack a bigger 5000mAh battery, but nothing is confirmed officially. Coming to the Redmi K30 Pro, it will go official sometime in early 2020 with Snapdragon 865 Mobile Platform and 5G support. Unlike the Snapdragon 765 series, the Snapdragon 865 flagship SoC does not have an integrated 5G modem which is an expected as Qualcomm can not make a non-4G version of the same chipset for the markets like India. In other news, Qualcomm is looking to deploy 5G in India in 2021 as the government is yet to hold spectrum auction as well. Qualcomm expects the 5G deployment will happen in NSA Sub-6GHz and SA modes.
